Sustainability

Our Commitment to Sustainability

At Xbloombox, sustainability isn’t just a buzzword—it’s woven into everything we do. As we craft our stunning floral designs and run our business, we constantly seek ways to improve our practices and lessen our environmental impact. While we acknowledge that we haven’t perfected our approach, we are fully committed to making continuous progress toward a more sustainable future.

Our journey is ongoing, and we believe there is always room for growth. We are transparent in our communication, whether with clients or through our content on social media. So, let's address an important fact upfront: yes, our flowers do contain plastic components, and they are not biodegradable. However, the way we use and encourage our clients to enjoy these products significantly reduces the environmental impact compared to traditional floral arrangements.

Our Mission

Our goal is to offer a beautiful, long-lasting alternative to fresh flowers. Whether through our permanent arrangements or bespoke floral hire service, we aim to provide a sustainable choice that can be cherished for years.

While no solution is perfect, we are committed to being part of the change. Here’s what we’ve done so far—and what we plan to do in the future—to make our business more sustainable:

Our Sustainable Actions to Date

  • Tree Planting: For every wedding or event booked, we plant a tree through the National Trust, helping to offset the carbon footprint of our business and support conservation efforts.
  • Energy Efficiency: Our local workshop uses timed lighting to minimize energy waste.
  • Paper Reduction: We operate nearly paperless, using digital tools whenever possible, though we still appreciate a good notepad for essential note-taking.
  • Remote Consultations: We prioritize meeting clients remotely to reduce travel emissions.
  • Efficient Logistics: We hire vans only when necessary, reducing unnecessary vehicle usage.
  • Bulk Ordering: We order flowers in bulk to minimize the frequency and environmental impact of deliveries.
  • Eco-Friendly Packaging: Our flowers arrive by ship, packed in recyclable cardboard rather than plastic, and we use only recyclable packaging materials, including acid-free tissue paper and vegetable-dyed, vegan-friendly stickers.
  • Longevity of Flowers: Our faux flowers require no water and minimal maintenance, offering beauty that lasts for years. We encourage clients to care for their arrangements to maximize their lifespan.
  • Reuse and Repurpose: Our bespoke hire service is designed to minimize waste. We carefully clean and repack flowers after each event, ensuring they can be enjoyed again and again. Even when retiring items from our inventory, we donate them to worthy causes, such as sensory gardens.
  • Sustainable Displays: We avoid traditional floral foam, opting instead for reusable mechanics like chicken wire.
